Phu Quoc Island, which is named “Pearl Island”, is one of Vietnam’s most popular tourist destinations. It offers a plethora of pristine beaches, gorgeous sunsets, deserted remoted islands, and lush tropical woods for all the guests traveling here. But what to do on this island when there are too many activities to choose from? Now, consider some fantastic things you can join while traveling Phu Quoc!
Aside from the snow-white beaches with ice cream-soft sand, this place has a variety of luxury resorts, stylish eateries, and soothing spa treatments. Traditional towns, ancient temples and pagodas, and expansive green parks may all delight even the most discriminating tourist. Besides, the island’s environmental conservation initiatives and cultural legacy also attract many visitors. Fishing and agriculture are key businesses, and since 2006, more than half of this tranquil island has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
One of the best activities to do in Phu Quoc is to lounge on the lovely beach. Here are two of those for you to choose:
Long Vương Temple, which was built in 1937, is regarded as a symbol of pearl island and a popular tourist site in Phu Quoc. Visitors must pass via a short stone bridge with 29 stone steps encircled by cement barriers to reach the Palace. The entire temple was built in a fairly strong neo-architectural style, but it retains the architecture of the northern temple, with a vivid red tile roof and a curving roof on the pillar gate. A highlight with the image of “the face of a moon” can be found on the Palace’s top.
From distance, Phu Quoc Palace seems to be a castle guarded by unusual rock torrents. Surrounded by rows of cool green trees that spread out on the cliffs, particularly the Pisocarpa Fig tree (Sộp tree), which may live for over a century. The interior is solemnly and magnificently ornamented. Dinh Cau Temple initially worships Long Vuong’s god, then two more lads guard and protect the people.
There are two specialties here that tourists must try once:
As many tourists know that Dalat and Ninh Tuan provinces are famous for wine, however, Phu Quoc also has a tasty kind of wine named Rhodomyrtus Tomentosa wine. The winery is located southwest of the island and produces a unique wine. This wine has a special flavor that is as delightful as international wines since it is prepared from Rose Myrtle fruit from this pearl island. Rose Myrtle has fruit all year, but spring is the ideal period for high-quality honey and the greatest material for making Rhodomyrtus Tomentosa wine.
Fish sauce is another Phu Quoc specialty which is mostly created with anchovies. To assure the full elimination of the funky smell as well as the greatest amount of nitrogen, the fish are cleaned and salted straight on the boat after being caught. The sea salt for salting fish comes from Ba Ria Vung Tau, which has a low impurity level. The mixture is then placed in huge wooden barrels. The fermentation process typically takes 9 to 15 months. The resulting puce liquid is saline, fishy, and delicious. It gives the foods a very sweet, salty, and characteristic fatty flavor.
French colonists established Phu Quoc Prison (also known as Coconut Tree Prison) in 1949. During the American War (also known as the “Vietnam War” in the United States), up to 40,000 Vietnamese military and political officials were imprisoned and tortured there. In 1995, the jail was designated a national historical landmark and accessible to the public for tours. For a nominal price, you may view displays depicting the many sorts of torture that people have undergone here. Some examples include electrocution, crucifixion, and starvation.
If you are interested in the history of the Vietnam War and torture tactics, this museum is one of the most intriguing things to do on Phu Quoc island!
The weather is great for travelers to explore all of the sites. It is moderate and cool all year. The average temperature is around 27.7℃. The climate of Phu Quoc is separated into two distinct seasons, each with its unique set of characteristics:
